KJ GARDNER SKATEPARK

19,000 Sqft

Completed in June 2025, the new KJ Gardner Skatepark replaced Black Diamond’s aging 2007 modular park with a world-class concrete facility. Blending street-plaza elements with flowing bowls and transitions, it offers skaters of all levels a safe, modern space to ride.

Funding came from a mix of public and private support, sparked by a $25,000 grant from King County Council member Reagan Dunn and bolstered by contributions from King County Parks, the Washington State Department of Commerce, the Recreation and Conservation Office, and local donors, totaling $1.75 million.

A standout feature is the world’s first integrated concrete pump track, woven directly into the skatepark rather than existing as a separate loop. The result is a seamless, organic flow that connects every feature, inviting skateboarders, BMX riders, scooters, roller skaters, and adaptive riders alike.

Grindline collaborated closely with the City of Black Diamond and local skaters to bring this groundbreaking vision to life. The park’s grand opening in July 2025 marked not only a local milestone, but the beginning of a new era in skatepark design.
