Taku Lake Park Skatepark in Anchorage, Alaska was completed in September 2024 as part of a broader effort to revitalize the park through a partnership between the Municipality of Anchorage, the Anchorage Park Foundation, and Grindline Skateparks. Replacing a small prefabricated facility, the new cast-in-place concrete park marks a major step forward for the local skateboarding community.
Designed using Grindline’s Organic Flow and Ladder of Progression principles, the park features a cohesive mix of flowing transitions and street elements that support all skill levels. The layout encourages continuous movement and intuitive progression, creating a dynamic space for both learning and high-level riding.
Community support played a key role in bringing the project to life. Local skaters raised nearly $90,000 through grassroots efforts, including events, art auctions, and youth-led “tricks for tips” campaigns. Additional funding from the Anchorage Park Foundation, Rasmuson Foundation, The Skatepark Project, along with municipal investment, helped make the project possible.
Today, the skatepark serves as a vibrant community hub—an example of how strong partnerships and local advocacy can deliver a durable, inclusive space that reflects the energy and needs of Anchorage’s skate scene.
