WESTPARK SKATEPARK
18,000 Sqft
Located in the Westpark neighborhood of Ventura, California, the Westpark Skatepark is a cast-in-place concrete facility designed and constructed by Grindline Skateparks in close collaboration with the City of Ventura and the local skate community. Developed to replace an aging skate facility, the new park reflects Ventura’s deep skateboarding heritage while providing modern, progression-focused terrain for riders of all ages and skill levels.
The layout emphasizes continuous flow and line connectivity, blending transition and street elements into a cohesive environment that encourages creative movement. Rolling transitions, open flatground, and dynamic features allow skaters to maintain speed and link lines naturally, supporting progression from beginner to advanced riding.
Cultural references throughout the park reflect Ventura’s identity as a quintessential coastal skateboarding destination, with integrated detailing and site-specific elements that acknowledge the region’s surf culture and skate legacy. Open sightlines and integrated seating reinforce the park’s role as both a skate facility and a central gathering space for the community.
Built for durability and longevity, Westpark Skatepark serves as a modern public space rooted in Ventura’s skateboarding tradition and stands as a crown jewel among California’s skateparks. The project was honored with the 2025 American Public Works Association Ventura County Chapter Project of the Year Award in the Structures category, recognizing excellence in design, construction, and community impact.
